A Fresh Start?

The cool autmn air stung my skin as I walked down the sidewalk away from my new house. My mother had sent me on my way to see my new doctor, although I wasn't in much of the mood for going to see her. I could almost hear her voice, "this is a fresh start for us Jade. A chance for you to better yourself, a chance for all of us to better ourselves." It's the same speach she gave everytime we moved to a new town. I rolled my eyes, just two more months. Then I never have to hear that stupid speach again. I'll be able to live where I want, move when I want, and choose to know who I want.

I walked into a gas station, thinking I could grab something to drink before heading home. When I walked into the store it was packed wall to wall with girls. Most of them couldn't be older than eighteen, but there were a few younger and older ones tossed in here and there. They were all waiting in line, and when I looked at the chashear I knew why. The man was beautiful, with a capitial B. He had dark blonde hair tossed playfully, dark brown pools for eyes that danced while he talked. He wore his blue DX shirt unbuttoned ontop of a white tanktop that hugged his muscles in all the right places. He was the type of guy girls would kill their own best friend over, yet there was something about him that made me think he didn't know how truly beautiful he was.

"Can I get you anything else?" I looked up. "huna?" The boy pointed to the water in my hand. "Is that everything?" "Oh, yea." I nodded and handed him a couple doller bills. As I was walking out the store I noticed another guy, quite possibly the only other guy, watching me. I was halfway across the parkinglot when he started yelling after me.

"So, you must be new in town." I turned to see the second boy. He was slightly shorter, with darker hair and lighter eyes and more of a roughness to him than his coworker. "What makes you say that?" I turned to face him. "Well, I've worked here for the past six years, an lived in Tulsa longer and I've never seen a girl walk into our store and not give Sodapop Curtis a second glance."

"Maybe he's just not my type."
"Ohh so your a lesbian! That's hot" he gave me a once over and winked.
"Or, I'm just not into pretty boys." I felt a smile creeping across my face.
"Then what are you into?"
"Wouldn't you like to know" I watched as the guy malled over this information, carefully forming his responce.
"I would. Hows about you tell me tonight at this party I'm going to?"
"Sorry, I don't go on dates with strangers"
"Well then, I'm Steve Randle and I'd like to continue our conversation tonight. Whatta say....."
"Audrey Jade Campbell."
He smiled, "I like it."
I began to walk away once more.
"That's it? No responce?"
I laughed, "You'll get one tonight Steve Randle."
